Pour satisfaire l’intérêt croissant de la masse d’obtenir de l’art gratuitement. LaGratos a comme objectif d’unir les artistes afin de leur offrir de l’exposition gratuite, rapide et mondiale.

Comment?
C’est distribuer librement sur internet.
Pour participer tu n’as qu'à envoyer ton œuvre par courriel (lagratos@hotmail.com) avant la date limite. Elle doit inclure : le titre, l’auteur, et sur quelle projet elle se trouve ou sur quelle projet tu travail. Les information envoyer seront afficher telle quelle donc assurer véraciter.

Émission de la mi-avril 2010

Comme vous savez, notre association avec la station choq.fm est terminée pour le moment. Nous serons peut-être de retour sur leurs ondes cet automne. En attendant, l'émission change un peu de format. Fini le blabla et les freestyles. On vous kick juste 76 minutes de bons beats relativement récent et moyennement bien mixé ;) .

Voici les albums qui vous réchauffer votre printemps. D'abord, La Connecta, un groupe français a sorti un excellent EP qu'il faut écouter. Il y a aussi Nouvel R et Clermont du coté francophone, mais ils ne sont pas aussi Boom Bap que Playmack qui sort son nouveau single "Vrai Hip Hop". Checkez le vidéo qui s'en vient! Louis Logic, The Optimen, Moka Only & Factor et Very ont aussi sorti de bons albums qui devrait plaire à leurs fans. De la Soul a sorti un album d'unreleased tracks et Dj Jazzy Jeff remixe ses meilleurs classiques sur un nouvel album au son très jazzy. Diction dirait que ça accote pas les originaux mais c'est quand même une bonne écoute. En plus, on a les nouveaux albums de Devin the Dude et de Cypress qui rappent toujours à propos de... vous savez quoi.

Album de la semaine: Guilty Simpson - OJ Simpson

Pretty much one of the heaviest hip hop albums I've ever heard. We already know Guilty for having a very rugged and straight to your face style and he hasn't changed a single bit here. Madlib laced him with some of his deadliest beats, these are really heavy and even quite hard to digest. Versatility as always been one of Madlib's strongest assets and he once again goes with a sound he hasn't done before, I can't think of a single project he's done that sounds close to this (not even the pre-album "Before the Verdict"). At first I was sort of alienated by the whole thing, loved the beats and the raps but it seemed like they didn't really match together but after a few more spins it started making sense and working pretty well. I'm seeing lots of people complain about the skits and interludes, but I don't mind them since they have pretty ill beats. Skits have never really bothered me, but when they have dope Madlib beats in them that's quite great. There is quite lots of those tho and sometimes you'd wish that Guilty would spit more on the album, but that just makes you cherish his verses even more. The whole album has the Madlib touch from top to bottom, it really feels like one of his project and that means that it's not your typical hip hop album (cause really what hip hop album sounds like OJ Simpson?). Another incredible one for Madlib, along with the Beat Konducta in Africa album, he his running things in the 2-0-1-0.

Album du mois: Madlib Medicine Show Vol. 3: Beat Konducta in Africa

Massive. This actually lives up to expectations. Madlib is the greatest. Let's not forget he released 5 other albums in the past 3 months and he still manages to cook one of the finest instrumental hip hop releases of recent memory. Like the previous Beat Konducta projects it follows a theme and this time around it's pretty obvious: Africa. Yep Madlib makes beats with African music samples, but this is more than just a simple beat tape. The flow is incredible, it's full of vocals samples from interviews, documentaries and whatever talking about Africa and that really adds some extra touches to the beats (which are already dope as fuck). The percussion and drums used are quite original, but that's to be expected since Madlib is not your average predictable producer. These rhythms make a wonderful blend with the african samples, the sound of the project is quite unique and innovative. Not to discredit his little brother Oh No, but this is what Ethiopium should have sounded like, not that it wasn't good but this is really something else. It's perhaps an indication that big bro is indeed the best of the 2. An incredible record and probably the best in the Beat Konducta series since Movie Scenes, they are all great anyway. Yet another essential piece in the Madlib puzzle, fans absolutely need to get this.

Album de la semaine: Freeway & Jake One - The Stimulus Package

Finally a 2010 hip hop release that's worth a damn, this year has started awfully slow for the genre... So here we have a classic 1 MC and 1 producer pairing (pretty much the way to go), from an unusual pairing but the synergy is definitely here. Jake One is a great producer who's made beats for just about everyone, but I can't say that I was totally satisfied with his producer album "White Van Music" back in 2008. Freeway is always an MC that I've enjoyed ever since his first guest spots on Jay-Z albums, his 2003 debut Philadelphia Freeway was pretty good but I felt that he could make something more consistent. His later albums weren't as good because of production problems, but you can bet that this problem is gone here. Jake One laces Freeway with some modern banging boom bap beats and they are really dope, there is so many great beats on this album and never no weak ones. Freeway flows effortlessly over them, he really feels at home over them which is nice to see. What's nice about this album is that it's very cohesive, it feels like a complete album without any filler or unnecessary songs. This is why 1 MC/1 producer albums are great, they actually feel like albums and not just a collection of random songs. It's still possible to make some quality hip hop in 2010, producers and MC's just have to stop being so fucking lazy and put some effort in their shit. This is the album we wanted Freeway to release all this time and the same goes for Jake One, I'd be surprised if we get 10 more hip hop releases in 2010 as good as this one.

Welcome to 2010, a new year, a new decade, and here we have the first great album from it. Hot off here very good "Umsindo" record from just 6 months ago, Georgia Anne Muldrow outdoes herself and releases the best album of her career so far (well in my opinion of course). While Umsindo was a beautiful mess of freedom and soul experimentations, this one right here is a lot more focused with more straight forward songs. She's somehow more "on-beat" this time around, it has less of the free feeling and I think that it makes the record more easily approachable. She's hands down one of the best producers right now, easily pushing "neo-soul" music forward by herself and she doesn't need the help of no one. The productions on this record are amazing, a little Detroit influenced as always but she's slowly starting to build a sound that's unmatchable. Of course she also blesses them with her beautiful and unique vocal styles, she possesses a powerful sweet voice that backs the powerful lyrics. The more I play this record, the more I enjoy it and that's always a good sign. I have the feeling that the best is yet to come for Ms. One, she's got an immense talent and she doesn't seem to be running out of ideas anytime soon. I hope that this is the record that will give her the push she needs (go Ubiquity!) but I guess when Erykah Badu releases Amerykah Part 2 next month, this one will hit the backseat unfortunately. Anyway great album, I'm totally satisfied.

En cherchant un peu, j'ai trouvé une tonne de cds qui tourne souvent dans nos systèmes de sons (ou mp3s). Ce soir, Dead Prez, Quasimoto, Jurassic 5, M.O.P., Scarface, Deltron, Big L (DITC), Fabe, Binary Star, Disiz la Peste et les gros noms locaux de cette année. Les nouveautés de la semaine, RJD2 et Black Kent, se feront discrètes parmi tout ça.

Large Pro, Fashawn, Hocus Pocus, Redman, The Nope, White Shadow of Norway, Bahamadia et Skillz vous feront commencer l'année du bon pied. Côté québécois, on vous kick Sozi, L'Assemblée et le mixtape de Farfadet et Rymz. Ça laisse pas beaucoup de place pour vous présenter des nouveaux groupes mais vous devriez entendre Fresh Breath Committee, Notes to Self et Dainjamental. Manquez pas notre rentrée en onde!

Instrumental hip hop covering instrumental hip hop? What the fuck? Yeah... and the weirdest thing about it is that it actually works. Mr. Chop (who's a name I don't know much about, but he's got some producing credits on the last MF Doom album) reworks some of the classic Pete Rock beats and makes something totally new out of them. Most of the time it's even hard to recognize what song he's covering (well not looking at the song titles and all), they usually have the same common sample but he just goes totally elsewhere with it. Have to love this mans drums, really hard and dark, there isn't a single beat on the album that doesn't hit the spot. Of course most of them aren't touching the originals, but then again what does, it doesn't really matter cause I never get the feeling that I should be listening to Pete Rock instead of this. Mr. Chop really succeeded at trying out this innovative concept, I'm sure Pete Rock himself would be proud of the end results of this record... One of the good instrumental joints of the year, definitely worth getting.

Album de la semaine: Sole & The Skyrider Band - Plastique (Weird)...

Anticon is a bunch of pretentious bullshit but once in a while they do come up with something that's good, and most of the time it's from Sole. The first Sole & The Skyrider Band album was one of my favorite releases of 2007, it was a unique twist on where hip hop could be taken and it worked out wonderfully. This follow-up picks right up where the debut left, it's still dark and apocalyptic and with highly negative topics. Sole really masters the depressive paranoiac raps like no one else, he's highly skilled and this style really fits perfectly over the Skyrider Band's almost post-rockish music. At times it feels like this is the result of what it would sound like if someone rapped over Godspeed You Black Emperor. The words really escape when me when trying to describe what's happening in the "beats", it's really some original stuff that no one really attempts to do. I still think the first album is a little superior, this misses the "oh wow, this actually works" factor and the productions aren't really as powerful... But this is really good stuff anyhow and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to the fans of the first album. Easily one of the most original hip hop LP's of 2009 (that doesn't suck), definitely worth checking for the hip hop fans who aren't afraid of something a little different.

On prend ça relax avec les quelques nouveaux albums de la semaine. Rakim, Koma, Iswhat, Themselves et Strange Fruit Project vont combler votre envie de nouveau rap bien frais. Si on regarde vers une couples de nouveaux groupes, on a Kid Millions, Blits The Ambassador, Serum, MSI, Lowkey avec Immortal Technique et Diamond District (Oddisee, Yu et XO). On vous kick aussiu une couple de bon b-sides old school.

Album de la semaine: Murs & Slug - Felt 3

Well I wasn't too sure on my first spin what to think of this, but after giving it a little more time I'm really digging this. The first thing to take into mind is that it's not Felt 2: The Sequel, it's really something else totally. With Aesop Rock on production, this is like an Aesop Rock album with different rappers. Even Murs & Slug aren't rapping like they usually are as it might seem that they are "lazy" at first, but really they are just trying something new and having fun with it (Get Cake? lol!). Seems rather a weird concept to do over some of those Aesop Rock beats but shit works fine when you accept this for what it is... Actually I'm really digging his beats, just like his music it requires more than the initial spin to catch everything that it going on. I'm not really surprised that it's throwing a lot of fans off cause whenever artists try to do something different in hip hop they usually get shitted on (not that I'm not guilty of this too), but hey I think it actually works out fine this time around. Very raw beats and raw rapping, pretty cool stuff and I can picture this growing on me even more with given time.
